About
Dr. Persephone Papatheodosiou is a psychiatrist with subspecialty certification in Sleep Medicine, awarded following clinical training and examinations by the Greek Ministry of Health. She is a PhD candidate at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, where her dissertation focuses on the role of personality in the treatment of insomnia. She also holds a Master of Science in Sleep Medicine from the University of Oxford.
She maintains a private psychiatric practice in Athens and works as a Scientific Associate at the Sleep and Circadian Rhythm Research Unit of Aiginiteio Hospital, where she contributes to clinical, research, and educational activities. She is an Early Career Member of the European Insomnia Network of the European Sleep Research Society (ESRS).
Dr. Papatheodosiou completed her specialty in Psychiatry at the 8th Psychiatric Department of Attica Psychiatric Hospital, where she gained extensive experience in managing complex psychiatric cases, psychotherapy, and educational program development. Her clinical background also includes work in Internal Medicine at Agia Eleni Spiliopoulou Hospital, dermatology clinics in Athens, and rural service at Aetos and the General Hospital of Kyparissia. During her residency she trained in neurology at Agioi Anargyroi Hospital and in psychosomatic psychiatry at the Korgialenio-Benakeio General Hospital. She also participated in the Gender Dysphoria Clinic at Attica Psychiatric Hospital and in community psychiatry at the Mental Health Center of Peristeri.
She has completed full training in Cognitive Behavioral Psychotherapy (CBT) at the Center for Applied Psychotherapy and Counseling, as well as postgraduate training in CBT for Insomnia at the University of Oxford. In addition, she has received further training in psychoanalytic and psychodynamic psychotherapy, psychogeriatrics, sleep study scoring (AASM), and adult ADHD (UK Adult ADHD Network).
Dr. Papatheodosiou is actively involved in teaching and conference work, delivering lectures and presentations to mental health professionals. She is a member of the Hellenic Psychiatric Association, the Hellenic Sleep Society, the ESRS, and the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM).
